Description
The RESICOM project is a conservation initiative focused on the restoration of mangrove ecosystems in the Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) of Ufoyaal Kassa Bandial and Bamboung, in Senegal. Faced with the growing threat to these critical areas, particularly due to deforestation for energy wood and destructive aquaculture practices, RESICOM aims to restore 20 hectares of mangrove. This strategic intervention is based on a participatory and sustainable approach, aiming to preserve marine biodiversity while meeting the energy needs of local communities.
-
Major issue
The rapid degradation of mangroves compromises marine biodiversity, the food security of local communities and worsens coastal erosion, further exposing populations to natural risks.
